Chilli down on fresh arrival in Guntur market

Chillies and pepper were down at NCDEX on account of profit-booking and also reports that Vietnam released its pepper stocks backed by good Indian prices.


MUMBAI: Chillies and pepper were down at NCDEX on account of profit-booking and also reports that Vietnam released its pepper stocks backed by good Indian prices.

Pepper did a volume of Rs 1,628 crore with 99,515 tonnes traded at the exchange with an open interest of 33,981 tonnes. The near month contract closed at Rs 15,433 per quintal as against the previous close of Rs 16,046 per quintal that is down by over 3.8%. Chillies were also down as arrivals improved at the Guntur spot markets.

The near month contract closed at Rs 5,584 per quintal as against previous close of Rs 5,793 and a total volume of 309 crore were clocked.. A total volume of Rs 4586 crore (one- way) was traded on NCDEX with active trades in pepper, chillies,chana, jeera and guar seed.

Chana clocked a volume of Rs 557 crore. Jeera traded Rs 855 crore with total 60,909 tonnes and guar seed did a volume of Rs 456 crore.
