Chana prices rise 0.62% on strong buying activity

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in April rose by Rs 21, with an open interest of 32,240 lots.

NEW DELHI: Chana prices rose by Rs 21 to Rs 3,421 per quintal in futures trade on Tuesday as traders enlarged their holdings on account of firm spot markets demand.

Restricted arrivals of the commodity in the physical market due to lower estimated output also influenced the chana prices.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in April rose by Rs 21, or 0.62 per cent, to Rs 3,412 per quintal, with an open interest of 32,240 lots.

Similarly, the commodity for delivery in May gained Rs 18, or 0.52 per cent, to Rs 3,458 per quintal, with an open interest of 80,410 lots.

Analysts said increased buying by speculators on good spot market demand mainly led to a rise in chana futures prices.
