Chana futures weakens 0.66% on profit-booking

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, chana for delivery in May fell Rs 23, or 0.66 per cent, to Rs 3,488 per quintal.

NEW DELHI: Chana prices fell by Rs 23 to Rs 3,488 per quintal in futures market on Monday as speculators booked profits driven by a weak spot market trend.

Expectations of bumper crop this season also put pressure on the chana futures prices.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, chana for delivery in May fell Rs 23, or 0.66 per cent, to Rs 3,488 per quintal, with an open interest of 21,750 lots.

Similarly, the commodity for delivery in April declined Rs 21, or 0.61 per cent, to Rs 3,440 per quintal, with open interest of 72,260 lots.

Traders said besides profit-booking by speculators on subdued demand in the spot market at existing higher levels mainly led to the fall in chana prices at futures trade.
