NEW DELHI: Chana prices rose by Rs 46 to Rs 4,064 per quintal in futures trade today as traders enlarged their holdings on account of the good demand in the market.

Restricted arrivals of the commodity in the physical markets also influenced the chana futures prices.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in January rose by Rs 46, or 1.14 per cent, to Rs 4,064 per quintal, with an open interest of 39,990 lots.

Similarly, chana prices for delivery in April advanced by Rs 20, or 0.55 per cent, to Rs 3,627 per quintal, with an open interest of 54,610 lots.

Traders said speculators increasing their holdings on hopes of rise in spot market demand against restricted arrivals of the commodity in the physical market mainly influenced the chana prices.
