Chana futures rise on higher spot demand

At NCDEX, chana for delivery in April rose by Rs 29, or 0.81 pc to Rs 3,596 per quintal, with an open interest of 62,640 lots.

NEW DELHI: Chana prices rose by Rs 29 to Rs 3,596 per quintal in futures trade today as traders enlarged their holdings on good demand in the spot market.

Restricted arrivals of the commodity in physical market and fears of crop damage in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan due to frost capped the gains.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in April rose by Rs 29, or 0.81 per cent to Rs 3,596 per quintal, with an open interest of 62,640 lots.

Similarly, chana prices for delivery in May traded higher by Rs 29, or 0.80 per cent, to Rs 3,645 per quintal, with an open interest of 14,130 lots.

Traders said speculators increasing their holdings on hopes of rise in spot market demand against restricted arrivals of the commodity in the physical market.
