Chana futures rise 1.42% on spot demand

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for September delivery rose by Rs 69, or 1.42 per cent, to Rs 4,919 per quintal, with an open interest for 10,420 lots.

Chana futures rise 1.42% on spot demand
NEW DELHI: Chana prices rose 1.42 per cent to Rs 4,919 per quintal in futures trade today as traders enlarged holdings on account of good demand in the spot market.

Besides, festive season demand and restricted supplies at the physical markets also added support to chana prices.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for September delivery rose by Rs 69, or 1.42 per cent, to Rs 4,919 per quintal, with an open interest for 10,420 lots.

On similar lines, chana for delivery in October increased by Rs 66, or 1.34 per cent, to Rs 4,965 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,62,010 lots.

Traders said speculators increased their positions supported by pick up in spot demand, mainly pushed up chana prices.
