Chana futures fall on subdued demand

At the NCDEX, chana for delivery in June fell by Rs 27, or 0.74 per cent to Rs 3,615 per quintal with an open interest of 60,740 lots.

NEW DELHI: Chana prices fell further by 0.74 per cent to Rs 3,615 per quintal in futures trading owing to slackened demand in the spot market amid increased supplies from new crop.

Reports of higher output this season also put pressure on chana futures.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, chana for delivery in June fell by Rs 27, or 0.74 per cent to Rs 3,615 per quintal with an open interest of 60,740 lots.

In a similar fashion, the commodity for delivery in May lost Rs 25, or 0.70 per cent to Rs 3,548 per quintal in 93,050 lots.

Market analysts said besides subdued demand in the spot markets, increased supplies from new crop influenced chana prices at futures trade.
