Chana futures down 0.57 pc on fresh arrivals

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in April moved down by Rs 20, or 0.35 per cent, with an open interest of 71,590 lots.

NEW DELHI: Chana prices moved down by Rs 20 to Rs 3,505 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators trimmed their positions, triggered by fresh arrivals from producing regions in the spot market.

Expectations of a higher production this year also put pressure on chana.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in April moved down by Rs 20, or 0.35 per cent, with an open interest of 71,590 lots.

Similarly, the commodity for delivery in January lost Rs 18, or 0.44 per cent to Rs 4068 per quintal in trade volume 25,960 lots.

Market analysts said offloading of positions by speculators, driven by fresh arrivals from producing regions in the spot market mainly led to a fall in chana prices at futures market.
