Cashew prices rise on fresh buying

Cashew prices rose by Rs 5 per kg in the national capital today largely on the back of fresh buying by retailers and stockists due to 'Navratras' demand.

NEW DELHI: Cashew prices rose by Rs 5 per kg in the national capital today largely on the back of fresh buying by retailers and stockists due to 'Navratras' demand.

Tight supplies from growing regions also supported the upside in prices.

Cashew kernel No 180, No 210, No 240 and No 320 rose by Rs 5 each to conclude at at Rs 735-755, Rs 675-700, Rs 595-615 and Rs 515-565 per kg, respectively.

Marketmen said increased buying by retailers and stockists to meet 'Navratras' festival demand, mainly pushed up pistachio prices on the wholesale dry fruit market here.

The following are today's quotations (per 40 kg): Almond (California) Rs 13,600 Almond (Gurbandi-new) Rs 7,300-7,700; Almond (Girdhi) Rs 3,300-3,500; Abjosh Afghani Rs 8,000-20,000.

Almond Kernel (California-new) Rs 480-500 per kg, Almond Kernel (Gurbandi-new) Rs 350-450 per kg.
