Cashew prices rise on fresh buying

Increased buying by retailers and stockists against tight supplies from growing regions, mainly pushed up cashew prices to rise.

NEW DELHI: Cashew prices rose by Rs 5 per kg in the national capital on Monday largely on the back of fresh buying by retailers and stockists amid low stocks.

Tight supplies from growing regions also supported the upside in prices.

Cashew kernel No 180, No 210, No 240 and No 320 rose by Rs 5 each to conclude at at Rs 685-740, Rs 665-685 Rs 585-605 and Rs 505-555 per kg, respectively.

Marketmen said increased buying by retailers and stockists against tight supplies from growing regions, mainly pushed up cashew prices to rise.

The following are today's quotations (per 40 kg): Almond (California) Rs 13,400 Almond (Gurbandi-new) Rs 7,100-7,600; Almond (Girdhi) Rs 3,100-3,400; Abjosh Afghani Rs 8,000-20,000.

Almond Kernel (California-new) Rs 460-495 per kg, Almond Kernel (Gurbandi-new) Rs 350-450 per kg.
