Cardamom prices up on increased demand

Cardamom brown prices climbed by Rs 700 a quintal in the kirana market today on increased demand against restricted supply.

NEW DELHI: Cardamom brown prices climbed by Rs 700 a quintal in the kirana market today on increased demand against restricted supply.

However, other spice prices remained flat in limited deals.Cardamom brown (Jhundiwarli) attracted fresh stockists attention and climbed up by Rs 700 at Rs 15,600-15,700 and its Kanchicut variety followed suit and rose by Rs 500 at 17,500-20,000 a quintal respectively.

Marketmen said fresh stockists buying against restricted supply mainly pushed up cardamom brown prices.Following were today's quotations (in Rs per quintal): Ajwain 5,800-9,000 Black pepper common 14,400-14,500 Betelnut (kg) 105-115, cardamom brown Jhundiwali)15,600-15,700 and cardamom brown (Kanchicut) 17,500-20,000. Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 405-480, cardamom (colour robin) 520-530, cardamom bold 540-555, cardamom extra (bold) 580-600 and cloves (kg) 260-280.
