Cardamom prices rose by Rs 5.90 to Rs 763.40 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions.

NEW DELHI: Cardamom prices rose by Rs 5.90 to Rs 763.40 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions, supported by a firm export and spot market demand.

Further, restricted arrivals from producing regions also supported the uptrend in cardamom futures.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for the July delivery surged Rs 5.90, or 0.77 per cent, to Rs 763.40 per kg in a business volume of 150 lots.

Spice prices for the June contract rose by Rs 4.20, or 0.57 per cent, to Rs 733.70 per kg in a business volume of 792 lots.

Traders said rising export as well as spot demand and restricted supplies from producing regions mainly led to an upsurge in cardamom futures prices.
