Cardamom prices rise on restricted supply

Cardamom prices moved up in the wholesale kirana market on Saturday on increased demand against restricted supply.


NEW DELHI: Cardamom prices moved up in the wholesale kirana market on Saturday on increased demand against restricted supply.

Cardamom small chitridar, colour robin, bold and extra bold increased further to Rs 435-510, Rs 550-560, Rs 570-590 and Rs 615-635 against previous levels of Rs 420-490, Rs 540-550, Rs 560-570 and Rs 595-615 per kg respectively.

Marketmen said restricted supplies from Kerala due to delay in harvest following heavy rain mainly pushed up cardamom prices. Meanwhile, turmeric prices eased by Rs 50 to Rs 3,250-4,550 per quintal.

Jeera common and dollar drifted by Rs 100 at Rs 10,300-10,700 and Rs 10,600-10,700 per quintal on fresh arrivals of stocks.

Following were today's quotations (in Rs per quintal): Ajwain 5,800-9,000 Black pepper common 14,400-14,500 Betelnut (kg) 105-115, cardamom brown (Jhundiwali)16,000-16,100 and cardamom brown (Kanchicut) 18,000-21,000.
