Cardamom futures weaken 1 pc on profit-taking

Cardamom prices fell by Rs 9.50 to Rs 945 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits at higher levels amid sluggish demand in the spot market.

NEW DELHI: Cardamom prices fell by Rs 9.50 to Rs 945 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits at higher levels amid sluggish demand in the spot market. Increased arrivals from producing regions also put pressure on cardamom futures prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for far-month January contract fell by 9.50, or 1 per cent to Rs 945 per kg in just one lot. Similarly, the spices for delivery in November month weakened by Rs 7.70, or 0.81 per cent to Rs 948.30 per kg in one lot.

Market analysts said besides profit-booking by speculators at existing higher levels, subdued demand in the spot led to the decline in cardamom futures prices.
