Cardamom prices rose by Rs 5.40 to Rs 981 per kg in futures market today as speculators created fresh positions, driven by pick-up in demand in the spot market.

NEW DELHI: Cardamom prices rose by Rs 5.40 to Rs 981 per kg in futures market today as speculators created fresh positions, driven by pick-up in demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in March rose by Rs 5.40, or 0.55 per cent, to Rs 981 per kg in business turnover of 1,196 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in the April contract gained Rs 3.30, or 0.33 per cent, to Rs 1,017.90 per kg in 159 lots.

Market analysts said fresh positions created by speculators after pick-up in demand in the spot market mainly helped cardamom prices to trade higher at futures trade.
