Cardamom futures rise on pick up in demand

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in April rose by Rs 4.70, or 0.52 per cent, to Rs 908.10 per kg.

NEW DELHI: Cardamom prices rose by Rs 4.70 to Rs 908.10 per kg in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions, driven by pick-up in demand in the spot market against limited arrivals from producing regions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in April rose by Rs 4.70, or 0.52 per cent, to Rs 908.10 per kg in business turnover of 394 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in the May contract edged up by Rs 2.10, or 0.23 per cent to Rs 916.20 per kg in 49 lots.

Market analysts said fresh positions created by speculators, driven by pick up in demand in the spot market against restricted arrivals from producing belts mainly led to rise in cardamom prices at futures market.
