Cardamom futures remain weak on profit-booking

Cardamom remained weak and prices shed another Rs 4.90 to Rs 1,077.20 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits.

NEW DELHI: Cardamom remained weak and prices shed another Rs 4.90 to Rs 1,077.20 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits, driven by a weak trend at the spot market on sluggish demand.

Increased arrivals from producing regions also influenced cardamom prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in March declined by Rs 4.90, or 0.45 per cent, to Rs 1077.20 per kg in business turnover of 30 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in February traded lower by Rs 2.70, or 0.26 per cent, to Rs 1040.70 per kg in a trade volume of 228 lots.

Market analysts said besides profit-booking by speculators, a weak trend at the spot markets on subdued demand against adequate stocks position mainly put pressure on cardamom prices at futures trade.
