Cardamom prices edged higher 0.65 per cent to Rs 792.70 per kg in futures trading today as speculators enlarged positions.

NEW DELHI: Cardamom prices edged higher 0.65 per cent to Rs 792.70 per kg in futures trading today as speculators enlarged positions, supported by rising demand in the spot market against tight supplies from producing belts.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in June gained Rs 5.10, or 0.65 per cent, to Rs 792.70 per kg in business turnover of 190 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in May contracts edged up by Rs 2.10, or 0.28 per cent, to Rs 765.70 per kg in 173 lots.

Analysts said rising demand in spot market against restricted arrivals from producing belts mainly influenced cardamom prices at futures trade.
