Cardamom futures fall on subdued demand

Cardamom prices fell by Rs 7.80 to Rs 954.20 per kg in futures trade as speculators offloaded their holdings due to subdued spot demand.

NEW DELHI: Cardamom prices fell by Rs 7.80 to Rs 954.20 per kg in futures trade today as speculators offloaded their holdings due to subdued spot demand at prevailing increased levels.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in March declined Rs 7.80, or 0.81 per cent, to Rs 954.20 per kg in a business turnover of 707 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in April traded lower by Rs 6.30, or 0.63 per cent, to Rs 991 per kg with trading volume of 179 lots.

Market analysts said off-loading of positions by traders amid a weak spot market trend on subdued demand mainly led to a fall in cardamom futures prices.

Adequate stocks position in the physical market also influenced trading in cardamom prices, they said.
