Cardamom futures fall on subdued demand

Cardamom prices fell by Rs 14.80 to Rs 997.40 per kg in futures trade today due to subdued spot market demand.

NEW DELHI: Cardamom prices fell by Rs 14.80 to Rs 997.40 per kg in futures trade today as speculators offloaded their holdings due to subdued spot market demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in April declined by Rs 14.80, or 1.46 per cent, to Rs 997.40 per kg in a business turnover of 237 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in March traded lower by Rs 12.50, or 1.27 per cent, to Rs 966.10 per kg with trading volume of 783 lots.

According to analysts, the decline in the cardamom futures prices was due to the easing of positions by traders driven by weak spot markets demand.

Adequate stocks position in the physical market also influenced trading in cardamom prices, they said.
