Cardamom futures fall on subdued demand

Cardamom futures prices today fell by Rs 7.30 to Rs 1,020.20 per kg as speculators reduced their positions, taking weak cues from spot market.

NEW DELHI: Cardamom futures prices today fell by Rs 7.30 to Rs 1,020.20 per kg as speculators reduced their positions, taking weak cues from spot market due to subdued demand and increased supplies.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in February declined by Rs 7.30, or 0.71 per cent, to Rs 1,020.20 per kg in a business turnover of 345 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in January fell by Rs 5.80, or 0.58 per cent, to Rs 981.80 per kg in 327 lots.

Market analysts said traders reduced their positions on the back of weak trend at spot market on subdued demand against tight supply mainly helped cardamom futures to trade lower.
