Cardamom declines on subdued demand

NEW DELHI: Cardamom prices declined by Rs 10 each per kg in the national capital today on subdued demand from retailers and stockists amid adequate stocks.

Cardamom small varieties such as chitridar, colour robin, bold and extra bold prices fell by Rs 10 each to conclude at Rs 650-750, Rs 600-700, Rs 650-700 and Rs 800-930 per kg, respectively.

Marketmen said subdued demand from retailers and stockists against adequate stocks, mainly pulled down cardamom prices on the wholesale kirana market here.

The following are today's quotations per quintal: Ajwain 10,500-17,000, black pepper (per kg) 350-470, betel-nut (kg) 180-200, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 970-1,000 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,000-1,100.

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 650-750, cardamom (colour robin) 600-700, cardamom bold 650-700, cardamom extra (bold) 800-900 and cloves (kg) 600-725.
