PUNE: The
Cotton Association of India (CAI) has placed the cotton crop for the season 2012-13 at 355.25 lakh
bales as on June 30, up by 3.25 lakh bales from its estimate of 352 lakh bales as on May 31. The projected balance sheet drawn by the
CAI for the year 2012-13 estimated the total cotton supply at 423.46 lakh bales while the domestic consumption is estimated at 283 lakh bales and exports at 95 lakh bales, thus leaving the closing stock at 45.46 lakh bales. The exports, estimated at 95 lakh bales, are lower by 32 lakh bales from 127 lakh bales in the corresponding period of previous year. The arrivals as on June 30, 2013 are placed at 344.75 lakh bales.
