Basmati rice prices strengthens on retailers demand
Basmati rice prices strengthened on the wholesale grains market on Saturday on increased demand from retailers due to marriage season.
However, prices moved in a narrow range on alternate bouts of buying or selling and settled around previous levels.
Marketmen said increased demand from retailers due to marriage season mainly pushed up basmati rice prices.
In the rice section, basmati Lal quila variety seen in demand and edged up to Rs 5,750 from previous closing of Rs 5,550 a quintal.
Following were today's quotations per quintal: Wheat MP (deshi) 1300-1625, wheat dara (for mills) 1055-1060, chakki atta (delivery) 1060-1070, Chakki atta Rajdhani (10 kgs) 145, shakti bhog (10 kgs) 155, roller flour mill 1050-1060, maida 1170-1190 (90 kilos) and sooji 1340-1350 (90 kgs).
Rice basmati (lal quila) 5750, Shri Lal Mahal 5500, Basmati common 4700-4900, Permal raw new 1120-1150, old 870-900, permal wand 1300-1350, sela 1550-1630 and rice IR-8 1010-1040, Bajra 660-670, Jowar yellow 600-650, white 1100-1200, Maize 730-760 Barley (UP) 1170-1185 and Rajasthan 1180-1185.
