NEW DELHI: Basmati rice prices rose by Rs 200 per quintal on the wholesale grains market in the national capital today on increased buying by stockists on expectations of better demand amid coming marriage season.

Elsewhere, other commodities including wheat continued to trade around previous levels on scattered deals.

Marketmen said increased buying by stockists on hopes of pick-up in demand for the coming marriage season demand mainly led to rise in basmati rice prices.

In rice section, Pusa-1121 variety rose by Rs 200 to Rs 7,600-8,800 per quintal. Permal raw, wand,sela and IR-8 were also seen in demand and traded higher by Rs 50 each at Rs 1,650-1,750, Rs 1,800-1,825, Rs 2,400-2,450 and Rs 1,500-1,545 per quintal respectively.

Following are today's quotations per quintal in Rs: Wheat MP (deshi) 1,500-1,800, wheat dara (for mills) 1,150-1,155, chakki atta (delivery) 1,165-1,175, atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 150, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 150, Roller flour mill 630-640 (50 kg), Maida 730-740 (50 kilos) and Sooji 750-755 (50 kg).

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 9,600, Shri Lal Mahal 9,300, Super basmati rice 9,000, Basmati common 8,400-8,500, rice Pusa-1121 - 7,600-8,800, Permal raw 1,650-1,750, Permal wand 1,800-1825, Sela 2,400-2,450 and Rice IR-8- 1,500-1,545, Bajra 940-950, Jowar yellow 1050-1150, white 1,475-1,550, Maize 1020-1050, Barley (UP) 850-900 and Rajasthan 1,080-1,090.
