Barley futures slip further on renewed selling

Barley futures prices extended losses and declined by Rs 22 to Rs 1,630 per quintal, due to selling by traders in line with weak spot markets cues.

NEW DELHI: Barley futures prices today extended losses and declined by Rs 22 to Rs 1,630 per quintal, due to selling by traders in line with weak spot markets cues.

Marketmen said reduced offtake in increased arrivals at higher levels in physical markets, mainly kept the prices in red zone here in the futures markets.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, barley prices for far June month moved down by Rs 22, or 1.33 per cent, to Rs 1,630 per quintal in open interest of 880 lots.

Prices for most-active May contract looked down by Rs.15, or 0.93 per cent, to Rs 1,595 per quintal in 9,410 lots.

April-delivery prices too softened by Rs 13.50, or 0.86 per cent, to Rs 1,562 per quintal having an open interest of 6,400 lots.
