NEW DELHI: Barley prices edged higher by Rs 14 to Rs 1,550 per quintal in future trading today as participants widened their positions amid positive cues from the spot markets.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, barley for delivery in December moved up by Rs 14, or 0.91 per cent, to Rs 1,550 per quintal, having an open interest of 7,590 lots.

On similar lines, the commodity for delivery in far-month April 2016 inched up by Rs 9, or 0.66 per cent, to Rs 1,379 per quintal, with an open interest of 430 lots.

Market players said widening of positions by speculators, supported by a firming trade at the spot markets, led to rise in barley prices at futures trade.
