Barley futures gain on spot cue

At the National Commodities and Derivatives Exchange, barley prices for April month rose by Rs 6.50, or 0.46 per cent.

NEW DELHI: Barley prices looked up by Rs 6.50 to Rs 1,417 per quintal in future trading Thursday following increased buying, guided by firm domestic spot markets.

Marketmen said prices improved on low levels buying, sparked by strong demand in spot markets from beer and cattle feed making industries.

At the National Commodities and Derivatives Exchange, barley prices for April month rose by Rs 6.50, or 0.46 per cent to Rs 1,417 per quintal, with an open interest of 5,040 lots.

May month contract also rose by Rs 3, or 0.21 per cent to Rs 1,433 per quintal, having an open interest of 1,090 lots.
