Barley futures fall on profit-booking

Barley prices turned weak by Rs 18.50 to Rs.1,491.50 per quintal in futures trading today following profit-booking by traders at prevailing higher levels.

NEW DELHI: Barley prices turned weak by Rs 18.50 to Rs.1,491.50 per quintal in futures trading today following profit-booking by traders at prevailing higher levels.

Marketmen said selling emerged at every rise mainly pulled down barley prices.

They said strong demand from beer and cattle-feed making industries partly capped the losses.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, Barley prices for September dropped by Rs.18.50, or 1.23 per cent, to Rs 1,491.50 per quintal, showing an open interest of 9,800 lots.

Most active the August month contract slipped by Rs.15.50, or 1.05 per cent, to Rs 1,465 per quintal, having an open interest of 30,260 lots.
