Barley futures dip on profit booking

Barley prices slipped by Rs 15 to Rs 1,336.50 per quintal in future trading today following profit booking at existing higher levels.

NEW DELHI: Barley prices slipped by Rs 15 to Rs 1,336.50 per quintal in future trading today following profit booking at existing higher levels.

Marketmen said selling pressure on higher levels mainly pulled down barley futures prices.

Lower spot markets, where fall in demand from beer making industries due to ongoing cold-wave too influenced trading sentiments, they said.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, barley for January dropped by Rs 15, or 1.11 per cent to Rs 1,336.50 per quintal, with open interest of 7,430 lots.

April month contract also followed suit and fell by Rs 10.50, or 0.73 per cent to Rs 1,421 per quintal, in open interest of 2,820 lots.
