Bajra, barley up on increased demand

Prices of bajra and barley rose up to Rs 20 per quintal on the wholesale grains market today on stockists buying.

NEW DELHI: In thin trading, prices of bajra and barley rose up to Rs 20 per quintal on the wholesale grains market today on stockists buying supported by increased demand from consuming industries.

However, other grains moved in a narrow range on lack of buying support against adequate stocks position and settled around previous levels.

Marketmen said stockists buying due to increased demand from consuming industries mainly led to rise in bajra and barley prices.

In the national capital, bajra rose by Rs 15 to Rs 1,445- 1,450 and barley gained Rs 20 at Rs 1,420-1,440 per quintal, respectively.

The following are today's quotations per quintal: Wheat MP (deshi) 2,060-2,260, Wheat dara (for mills) 1,590-1,595, Chakki atta (delivery) 1,595-1,600, Atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 210, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 210, Roller flour mill 830-850 (50 kg), Maida 900-940 (50 kg) and Sooji 970-1,000 (50kg).

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,000, Shri Lal Mahal 10,000, Super Basmati Rice, 9,500, Basmati common new 7,400-7,500, Rice Pusa-(1121) new 6,600-7,300, Permal raw 2,150-2,250, Permal wand 2,425-2,475, Sela 3,500-3,600 and Rice IR-8 1,750-1,800, Bajra 1,445-1,450, Jowar yellow 1,450-1,500, white 2,250-2,450, Maize 1,500-1,510, Barley 1,420-1,440, Rajasthan 1,080-1,090.
