Almond rises on firm demand

Almond prices rose by Rs 100 per 40 kg in the national capital today largely on the back of rising demand amid low stocks.

NEW DELHI: Almond prices rose by Rs 100 per 40 kg in the national capital today largely on the back of rising demand amid low stocks.

Restricted arrivals from overseas markets also supported the uptrend.

Almond (california) prices rose by Rs 100 to Rs 11,900 per 40 kg and its kernel also moved up to Rs 430-435 from previous close of Rs 425-430 per kg, respectively.

Marketmen said apart from restricted supplies from overseas markets, firm demand from stockists and retailers also attributed rise in almond prices.

They said an upward trend in futures market also supported the upside in prices.
