IDBI sells Rs 5 crore Tata Power bonds on NSE debt platform
IDBI Bank today said it has become the first bank to sell Tata Power bonds worth Rs 5 crore on the newly-launched debt trading platform.
"We were the first financial institution to sell bonds worth Rs 5 crore of Tata Power today on the debt trading segment of the NSE today," IDBI Bank treasury head N S Venkatesh told PTI here.
Commenting on the launch of debt segment, Venkatesh said, "we believe it's a good development and it will bring more liquidity and transparency in the debt market."
It will also benefit the development of interest rate futures and credit derivatives segment.
The NSE today launched the first dedicated debt trading platform. The market regulators Sebi has permitted banks and primary dealers to participate in the debt trading.
The NSE is awaiting for the guidelines from the market regulator for allowing participation of mutual funds, insurance companies and pension funds, which is expected to provide an opportunity to retail investors to invest in corporate bonds on a liquid and transparent exchange platform.
