Karnataka state tourism has declared 2017 as the ‘Year of the Wild’. It will cater to tourists keen on exploring the wilderness and wildlife of the same. The campaign ‘Year of the Wild’ was launched by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Minister of State for Tourism Priyank Kharge recently.

Bandipur
National Park, an 874-sq km forested reserve in the southern Indian state of Karnataka, is known for its small population of tigers. It is located amidst the picturesque surroundings of the towering Western ghat mountains on the Mysore-Ooty highway in Karnataka Earlier, the private hunting ground of the Maharajas of Mysore, the park also harbors Indian elephants, spotted deer, gaurs (bison), antelopes and numerous other native species. The 14th-century Himavad Gopalaswamy temple offers views from the park's highest peak.

Bandipur National Park is regarded as one of the most beautiful and the better-managed national parks of India. All in all, the Bandipur National Park occupies a special place in India's efforts towards ecoconservation.
