Taj mahal, Agra: An immense mausoleum of white marble, the Taj Mahal in Agra sees visitors of all age groups making a beeline there. The Yamuna River flows by Agra and this ancient city sets the right mood to embark on a splendid journey. The other popular monuments in Agra include Itmad-Ud-Daula, Fatehpur Sikri, Sikandara, Aram Bagh, Khas Mahal and Panch Mahal.



Fatehpur sikri: The Fatehpur Sikri was built by the renowned Mughal emperor Akbar in the 16th century. The palaces found here reflect the architectural brilliance of the bygone era. Some of the must-visit destinations are Panch Mahal, Diwan-i-Khas, Buland Darwaza, Johbhai Palace, Lotus Throne Khwabgah amongst others.



Awadhi cuisine: Awadh, the heart of the Nawabi culture, pays tribute to all tastes. The sumptuous and very sensual Awadhi gourmet cuisine, aimed primarily at feasting royalty,is reminiscent of an elegant rich tradition.



Jhansi fort: The 17th century fort was made by Raja Bir Singh. The fort witnessed the fiery battle led by Rani Laxmi Bai. There are temples of Lord Shiva and Lord Ganesh within the fort. The Karak Bijli and Bhawani Shankar cannons of the queen are kept inside the fort. There is also a museum, which has a collection of sculpture and provides an insight into the history of Bundelkhand.
