This small town is situated about seven kms from Coimbatore City Railway station and 25 kms from Coimbatore Airport. The area is mostly agricultural where crops such as coconut, banana are grown. During the rains, birds like pelican, ibis and painted storks are seen in Perur Lake. There are several talks to set up a park and walking track at the bunds of Perur lake

TEMPLE TOWN: Perur is famous for Perur Pateeswarar Temple. The temple is located near the Noyyal River and has been patronised by famous poets like Arunagiri Nathar and Kachiappa Munivar. The origins of this temple date back to 2,000 years, it is said to be built by Karikala cholan. Later, the Hoysalas and the Vijayanagar kings also made contributions to this temple.

WOW factor! Five kilometres from Perur is the lesserknown Vedapatti Lake, during the monsoons, this lake is visited by migatory birds.
