Room rates cheaper across UK

Hotel.com's latest Hotel Price Index shows that hotels across the UK - London in particular - are dropping rate. London hotel prices were down by 12% to ��111 per room on average in the last three months of 2008.

And the weakness of the pound has meant that average prices paid by dollar travellers were down by 24% in London . The HPI tracks real prices paid per hotel room, rather than advertised rates, for 68,000 hotels in 12,500 locations worldwide.

This HPI looked at prices from Oct-Dec 2008 versus Oct-Dec 2007. Hotels in the north-west saw the biggest price drops ��� Blackpool fell by 22% to ��79/room/night and in Manchester prices fell by 19% to ��73/room/night.
