Business travelers paid more for flights during the second quarter this year than at any time since 2001, says a new study to be released Tuesday by American Express Business Travel. AmEx's quarterly Business Travel Monitor showed the average airfare paid by business travelers in the April-June quarter this year jumped 13% to $247 one way from $218 in the same period in 2005.
Travellers also paid more for hotels and rental cars. The quarterly tracks fares bought by customers of the world's largest travel agency for travel on 329 of the US’s most heavily travelled routes.
Oktoberfest in Munich

Shanghai Festival kicks off
The three week long Shanghai Tourism Festival, which started on September 15 has something for everyone: fireworks, folklore, cuisine contests, Oktoberfest, carnivals, cricket fighting and extreme sports. It started off with the traditional floral floats parade down Huaihai Road.
Traditional programmess include the "Rose Wedding" ceremony, cruisers' parade on the Huangpu River, International Music Fireworks Festival in Pudong's Century Park and a folklore tour of Shanghai lanes.
As it coincides with the Mid-Autumn Festival on October 6, which marks the harvest and family reunion, traditional celebrations such as flower- and moon-viewing will add a festive ambience.
