SHIMLA SUMMER FESTIVAL

Where: Shimla

Beat the heat by heading north to the mountains in Shimla, to experience the five-day summer festival. This renowned event has been held regularly in Shimla since the 1960s. It features musical performances, some from famous singers, food and fashion. Plenty of local handicrafts are on sale as well.

12TH SAMUI REGATTA

When: May 25 - June 1

Where: Koh Samui, Thailand

The Samui Regatta, is an annual event that takes place on the beautiful sun-drenched island of Koh Samui. Sailing enthusiasts take to the water while onlookers check out the boats.

PAN PACIFIC FESTIVAL

When: June 7-9

Where: Hawaii, USA

The Pan-Pacific Hoolaulea is a diverse gathering of people, cultural exhibitions, and talent from across the Pacific Rim. It is one of the largest outdoor multi-cultural exhibits of its kind in the state of Hawaii and it happens in beautiful Waikiki, right on Kalakaua Avenue. The main thoroughfare is temporarily closed down to vehicular traffic from Lewers Street to Kaiulani Avenue to accommodate this festive block party.

BIRD IDENTIFICATION WORKSHOP

When: June 1,2

Where: BNHS, Mumbai

This two-day workshop is for beginners in bird identification. The workshop will include an audio-visual talk by an expert on how to identify birds. Followed by a demonstration of preserved bird specimens from the BNHS Collections. The workshop will also include a field trip to the Karnala Bird Sanctuary where participants will be introduced to field techniques for bird identification. The highlight of the workshop is the study of preserved bird specimens that will be demonstrated. The participants get an opportunity to learn field techniques also, like identifying bird calls.
