A three day Basanta Utsav folk festival is organised in the Purulia district of West Bengal. Apart from playing Holi, tourists indulge in a wide variety of unique folk art. This includes the remarkable Chau dance, Darbari Jhumur, and songs by Baul musicians.

The festival is organised by the villagers as a way of sustain themselves and keep their culture alike.

REST OF THE STATE: Idols of Krishna and Radha are placed in a decorative palanquin which is taken round the main streets. The devotees take turns to swing them while women dance around the swing and sing devotional songs. All this while men keep spraying water at them.
