Take a bite of simplicity with the Nepalese 'dal-bhat-tarkari'
As you venture into the markets, small cafes and boutique restaurants serve a variety of cuisines with Asian themes.

Simplicity is the mantra and that keeps the Nepalese healthy and fit. Dal-bhat-tarkari, which means Pulses, Rice and Vegetables are the staple food items throughout Nepal.
Served with much love in a big copper plate with raised edges, food borders toward being non-spicy. Add a dash of the chutneys and pickles that are freshly prepared from season’s best fruits and vegetables. When your Nepali hosts asks if you want some ‘Hariyo Khursani’ too, give it a nod and chew on fresh green chillies eaten with the meal.

Dhindo is a traditional food of Nepal. As you venture into the markets, small cafes and boutique restaurants serve a variety of cuisines with Asian themes. It’s not difficult to come across the hybrid Tibetan, Indian and Thai food styles. On a misty evening, stop by a street-side vendor who is selling hot momos as he prepares it impromptu in the bamboo baskets over a small stove on a thela (cart). These Tibetan style dumplings are stuffed with Nepali spices, most tourists and locals just love this light snack.
