Verona: A memory to Juliet

Spread across the town of Verona in Italy lie a series of monuments, all a strong testament to love — more specifically, Shakespearean love. ET-Travel reader, Atoorva Sinha visited Verona, the setting for the story of Romeo and Juliet.

She says, “A beautiful, historical city of Italy, Verona, has many claims to fame. There are amazing churches, fascinating museums, an old castle with fair dose of history and art, and of course, the world famous Amphitheatre Arena. But on top of the list is the immortal tale of Romeo and Juliet, which is supposed to have happened in this fairytale town of Italy.

The city attracts hundreds of tourists every day just to visit the so-called balcony of Juliet and the supposed tomb of Juliet (depicted in the picture). So solid is the association of the tale with this city that the city claims to be la città dell’amore — the city of love...”
