Ladakh calling: Beat the soaring mercury levels

With altitudes ranging from about 9,000-ft (2750m) at Kargil to 25,000-ft at Saser Kangri in the Karakoram, Ladakh is a high altitude desert.

Best Time To Visit: May till September.

Why:

With altitudes ranging from about 9,000-ft (2750m) at Kargil to 25,000-ft at Saser Kangri in the Karakoram, Ladakh is a high altitude desert, which receives little rainfall. It is bound by two of the mightiest mountain ranges, the Great Himalaya and the Karakoram.

How To Get There:

Simplest way to reach is by boarding a flight into Leh or go over mountain passes from Manali or Srinagar in a sturdy jeep (which can be hired in Delhi). You can go past the Tanglang-la , which is the world’s second highest motorable pass at an altitude of 17,469 ft.
