On the special evening, six prominent names lived the dream of being inducted into the prestigious Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery which celebrates icons whose work had a positive impact on American history, development and culture.
From Indra Nooyi to Frances Arnold, achievers from the world of business, science, fashion and entertainment were immortalised by the gallery. The gala was a star-studded affair which saw politicians, business tycoons and actors in attendance.

Former PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi, who is currently a part of the board of directors at Amazon Inc, gave her country another reason to be proud. The top boss, who turned 64 last month, received a portrait of her own in the gallery created by artist Jon Friedman.
Nooyi was honoured for serving as chairperson in a Fortune 500 company for 25 years. She was also hailed for introducing healthier beverage options like fruit juices in place of sweetened sodas, which are perceived as unhealthy.
Nooyi, dressed in a maroon outfit, posed beside her portrait with Friedman and Museum Director Kim Sajet.
Later, while enjoying dinner and wine, she clicked an all-smiles picture with former First Lady of the United States of America Hillary Clinton.
