Here's why you should plan a trip to Mandu during the rains
MANDU
Region:
Madhya Pradesh

Mandu or Mandavgarh is a ruined city of fine Afghan architecture, spread over 20sq km comprising the Jahaz Mahal, Asharfi Mahal, Jami Masjid, Rewa kund, Rani Roopmati Pavilion, Hindola Mahal, and Baz Bahadur’s Palace, interspersed with thinly forested areas, fields and lakes. Nowhere but in Mandu, does one find so many structures conceived with water as an integral part of design. The city had a rainwater harvesting system in the medieval times.

In the rains, the beautiful domed structures standing amidst the greenery look quite appealing–and entire Mandu seems to be in a celebratory mode. The lush bloom of the monsoon and revivified plants and forests along with pleasant weather is a boon for nature lovers during the month of August.
