The stories behind the historical monuments in India are simply fascinating. They speak volumes of the rich heritage and in many instances, of India’s freedom struggle as well.

The Dandi March Statues in New Delhi are symbolic of the kick start of one of the biggest events in the history of India’s struggle for freedom. These statues were erected to commemorate the Salt March in which Mahatma Gandhi along with thousands of his followers covered a distance of 388 kilometres by foot, all the way from Ahmedabad to the coastal city of Dandi, Gujarat.

The agenda was to defy the British authorities and make them remove the tax imposed on salt. Other attractions in Delhi include the Red Fort, Jantar Mantar, Qutub Minar, India Gate and Humayun’s Tomb among many more.

Spend a few minutes in the vicinity of each of these structures and you will feel proud! A nice drive away from Delhi is the Taj Mahal in Agra, Uttar Pradesh.
