Nyamjam food and music festival

When: November 13 - 15, 2015

Where: Jamaica

- NyamJam promises to be a celebration of the authentic spirit and culture of Jamaica. The food and music event is scheduled for November 13-15, 2015 at Golden Eye Hotel & Resort and James Bond Beach in Oracabessa, St. Mary. The festival will showcase international and local celebrity chefs of the likes of: Mario Batali, April Bloomfield, Jose Enrique, Seamus Mullen, Johnny Iuzzini, Oji Jaja, Ravi Ann, Colin Hylton, Brian Lumley and Alicia Woodbine James plus entertainers Ernest Ranglin and Angelique KidJo.

- The famed Land of the Amur Falcon Tucked away in a beautiful corner of the country, Nagaland each year plays host to thousands of Amur Falcon halting here before their onward migration to Africa. During this camp one could see birds like Mountain Bamboo Partridge, Striped Laughing thrush, Spot-breasted Parrotbill, Blyth's Tragopan, Brown Hornbill, Naga Wren-babbler, Gould's Shortwing, Yellow-throated Laughing thrush, Rusty-capped Fulvetta, and Golden Babbler.

Gandhi Jayanti / International day of non-violence

- Gandhi Jayanti, or Mahatma Gandhi's Birthday, is celebrated in India on 2 October. The date is the birthday of Mohandas (Mahatma) Karamchand Gandhi in 1869. It is also the day now commemorated by the United Nations as the International Day of Non-Violence. Mahatma Gandhi went to England at the age of 18 to study law then travelled to South Africa to help the rights of Indians there. He returned to India in 1915. Gandhi became known as the ‘Father of the Nation' and was the leader of Indian nationalism in British-ruled India. Government organisations, educational institutions follow awareness programmes on Gandhiji's preachings to mark his birthday.
