EuroPride in Zürich this summer

EuroPride 09, the largest festival for gays and lesbians in Europe, will be held in Z��rich this summer, hosted byZ��rich Tourism. From May 2 to June 7, 2009, an estimated 100,000 local and international visitors are expected for the event. This is the first time that Switzerland is hosting EuroPride 09 and has lined up cultural, political and sporting events.

For example, the Kunsthaus, Z��rich���s Museum of Fine Art, will be offering guided tours of the museum on understanding roles and sexuality in art. The highlight will be the weekend of June 5 to 7. Z��rich has a thriving gay scene with bars, clubs and cultural happenings such as Warmer Mai (Warm May), the film festival ���Pink Apple��� and parties like the Follies au Lac.

The city has a lesbian president Corine Mauch since April 9, 2009. Z��rich also has the oldest gay bar in Europe, the Barf��sser Bar.
