Discover the unexplored: The picture-perfect setting of Bunkulung lends unique charm
BUNKULUNG
Region: West Bengal

A quite elusive and unexplored destination in the north-east, Bunkulung is literally the agricultural hub of Mirik, which is 15km away. Located on the edge of the valley with hills looming in every direction, the place cannot be accessed on foot and one needs to hire a cab.

Bunkulung offers a canvas full of farm lands, fisheries and vast empty stretches of land that will mesmerise anyone. Witness miles and miles of millet and paddy fields spread over the criss-crossing slopes of mountains. The area comprises a lot of gushing water-bodies in the form of streams, rivulets and waterfalls. In fact, Bunkulung is criss-crossed by two rivers – the Balasun and the small Murmah Khola (it is more of a rivulet). Bunkulung is one of the best examples of ecotourism in North Bengal. The Murmah tea gardens are also nearby and one can simply walk down the village roads to explore the tea gardens. In rainy season, the whole of Bunkulung is shrouded in green. Enjoy a nature walk along the picturesque landscape of Bunkulung.
