Designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee's style tips for a destination wedding

Fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee is all for a bride feeling comfortable on her big day. “If the bride is not at ease on her own wedding day, all the other grand preparations are futile,” he says introspectively. Rooting for the royal look this season, Sabya shares some useful shaadi-related tips.
CURRENT TRENDS IN BRIDAL WEAR:

Indians tend to go overboard by teaming colourful outfits with loud jewellery. The key is to not let them clash and make a statement. If you’re wearing colourful outfits, go for diamond or plain gold jewellery with it. Jewellery with colourful stones will stand out on single shade outfits.

COLOUR OF THE SEASON:

Gold: It lends a royal look to the ensemble. Gold and black is a winning combination.

BRIDAL TIPS

Beach wedding: Keep it light and wearable. Do colour blocking because when you don’t have too much embellishment on your clothes, pops of colour make you stand out.

Wedding in Europe: I think the light is significantly different from India, so it’s important to go for mellow colours. It’s not the best place to flash fiery reds and fuschia pinks. Softer hues of the same shades will help.

Wedding in the Middle East: Wear khadi, especially if you’re a guest! It’s elegant, ethereal and breathes beautifully.

Runaway bride: It’s jeans to the rescue and the best wedding gown! Invest in a good pair of trainer shoes, too. (adds with a grin)
